The team

Katharine Yates

Katharine is an artist and creative facilitator with a background in physical theatre and devised work.

She specialises in creating and teaching performance, group facilitation, conflict awareness, leadership, personal development and yoga.

Born in London, Katharine has lived and worked in France, the Caribbean and West Africa. She is passionate about facilitating an experiential creative learning process for and with the people she works with and has a particular interest in the use of play and drama in learning.

As well as running deep:black Katharine also works as an associate for Leap Confronting Conflict, Clean Break Theatre Company and Drama Workhouse. She regularly works in Italy for English Break using drama and play to teach young people English and French. She recently qualified as a yoga teacher and is exploring how to integrate elements of yoga into deep:black’s workshops and training programmes.

Katharine believes in the power of the arts to engage people in a creative learning process and is excited about the potential for change and personal development through creative action.
