deep:black is run by a team of practitioners with expertise in mediation, conflict resolution, theatre, performance, fine art, youth and community development, team and organisational development, and events management.
The story so far...
The company was started in 2008 by Kweku Aacht and Petra Hilgers who met working as mediation outreach workers at Hackney Mediation Service. Through their mediation work in East London they realised the need for conflict resolution skills beyond the mediation case work, and so when the Mediation Service was closed in June 2008 they decided to set up deep:black.
In May 2009 Petra and Kweku met Katharine Yates through working together for Leap Confronting Conflict. Katharine joined the company as a third director in September 2009 and in April 2010 deep:black was registered as a workers' cooperative.
